The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) which is constructing a six-lane Mankoli-Mothagao bridge on the Ulhas creek set its deadline to complete the work in the next 15 months.

Dr Shrikant Shindhe, MP from Kalyan, also held a meeting with the senior MMRDA officials in Dombivali regarding the same on Wednesday, August 12. The construction of the bridge will connect Kalyan-Dombivali with the shortest route to Bhiwandi and Thane limits benefitting at least 60 lakh people.

In terms of traffic, this project is being considered crucial in Kalyan and Dombivil. After the construction of this bridge, the traffic time between the two areas can be significantly reduced. This bridge can play a very important role in solving the traffic problem that is usually witnessed in the area.

Moreover, the process of land acquisition for this bridge is 80 per cent complete and the remaining 20 per cent will be completed soon. Work is underway on the 1225 m long and 27.5 m wide creek bridge through MMRDA. The work of connecting the welfare ring route segment 3 is also targeted to be completed at the same time.

On the other hand, MMRDA is also planning on setting up a green corridor that would establish connectivity between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. This green corridor will be situated along the Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link (MTHL),  as per officials.
