Mumbai’s first air-conditioned study centre for underprivileged students was launched on Monday, April 7. It is located at Captain Prakash Pethe Marg in Colaba. The centre is located near the main signal near Budhwar Park.

The study centre can accommodate 30 students at a time. It is meant for students from disadvantaged households. Many of these students live in nearby slum areas. These include Shiv Shakti Nagar, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Nagar, Garib Janata Nagar, and Steel Godown.

The centre will remain open from 11:00 AM to 6:30 PM every day. It has benches for sitting and clean drinking water. It offers a peaceful and comfortable environment for studying.

The project is a joint effort with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). It is funded through corporate social responsibility. The goal is to give students a better space to study and prepare for exams.

Many students using this facility are preparing for competitive exams. These include state service commission and civil service exams. As per reports, former BJP corporator from Colaba, Makarand Narwekar, said more such centres will be set up soon. The study centre is expected to help many students in the coming days.
