Mumbai - Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) will construct a 1.2 km long elevated road from the Bharat Diamond Bourse Junction in the Bandra Kurla Complex to the Vakola Junction near Western Express Highway.
The objective is to ease traffic congestion. Mumbai University will hand over its land to the MMRDA for the purpose. Besides this, MMRDA will also construct a 400 m long and 30 m wide road in the vicinity of Mumbai University for additional connectivity from BKC to Santacruz Chembur Link Road.
The TDR generated after handing over the land to MMRDA will be sold and used for the overall development of Mumbai University which will include construction of hostels, staff quarters and guest house, etc. The news was jointly confirmed by Vice Chancellor, Mumbai University Dr Sanjay Deshmukh and Metropolitan Commissioner U P S Madan.
