Shiv Sena legislators on Thursday unanimously elected party's senior leader Eknath Shinde as the leader of the legislature party. Yuva Sena chief and newly elected Shiv Sena MLA from Worli assembly constituency, Aditya Thackeray proposed Shinde's name.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena leader Sunil Prabhu was elected as chief whip. However, there were no talks regarding the position of Deputy Chief Minister for Aditya Thackeray, which has been the speculation in the political circle.
While thanking Shiv Sena MLAs, Eknath Shinde said, "I will always be with the people and will do justice to the people of Maharashtra."
Before the legislators' meeting, it was being speculated that Aditya Thackeray will be elected as the leader of the Shiv Sena legislature party.

A delegation of Shiv Sena MLAs along with Aditya Thackeray on Thursday evening went to meet Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.
After meeting the Governor, while talking to the media, Aditya Thackeray said that they have asked the Governor to declare drought in Maharashtra and provide financial help to the farmers who have been affected due to the untimely rains.
However, Thackeray remained silent on the ongoing conflict between Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over power-sharing.
