Shiv Sena's Thackeray faction has been facing setbacks for the past few days. Two more former corporators from Versova assembly constituency have joined Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena. Former corporator Raju Pednekar, former corporator and sub-divisional head Sanjay Pawar have left Thackeray. Former corporator from Kurla Dr. Anuradha Pednekar also joined Shinde's Shiv Sena.

Former corporators from Thackeray group are continuously joining Shiv Sena (Shinde). In January, Rajul Patel from Versova constituency joined Shinde group. Fifteen days ago, Shiv Sena (Thackeray) sub-divisional chief Jitendra Janawale also joined Shiv Sena (Shinde). After that, on Sunday, former corporator Raju Pednekar, former corporator and sub-divisional chief Sanjay Pawar left Thackeray's side.

Along with these former corporators, branch heads, sub-division heads, sub-branch heads, group heads, North Indian activists, Mahila Aghadi, Yuva Sena, Warkari sect, and Muslim brothers were present on this occasion. All these office bearers and workers were welcomed by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. So far, 50 former corporators from the Thackeray group have joined Shinde's Shiv Sena.

The Versova assembly constituency, controlled by the Thackeray faction, was in turmoil even before the assembly elections. There was no clear leader in the constituency at that time. The controversy began just before the elections when two candidates, Raju Pednekar and Rajul Patel, were hoping to run for the seat. However, party leader Uddhav Thackeray chose to drop both of them and instead fielded a minority candidate.

Haroon Sheikh, the Shiv Sena (Thackeray) candidate, won the election. Raju Pednekar then rebelled against the decision. Later, when the Shinde-Fadnavis government decided to increase the number of wards in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to 227, it was Raju Pednekar who challenged the move on behalf of the Thackeray faction.
