The woman workers are at the district level of the party and she informed Nirupam through a text message about the issue blaming the male co-workers from Youth Congress and NSUI (National Students’ Union of India).

“The workers from Youth Congress and NSUI pushed and shoved women co-workers in an inappropriate manner making us feel unsafe,” she wrote. Reacting to this, Sanjay Nirupam expressed his disappointment and said that strict action will be taken against those involved.

Mumbai’s Congress chief termed the incident as ‘unfortunate’ and while condemning the act said that

I have asked the woman to identify the person and I will take action against the accused, not only at the party level but will register a case against the accused.”
