In addition to launching the HomePod mini and subsequently the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 mini, Apple also introduced upgrades to the Pro models in the form of the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max.
The new iPhone 12 Pro models will be available in 128GB, 256GB and 512GB storage variants. They are also getting size upgrades, with the iPhone 12 Pro Max sporting a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR display, making it one of the biggest iPhones out there while the iPhone 12 Pro, on the other hand, has seen an upgrade from the predecessor’s 5.8-inch display to a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR panel.
Staying true to the Pro moniker, Apple has included features like Apple ProRAW which will be available exclusively on the 12 Pro and the 12 Pro Max. However, this feature will not be available out of the box but will be made available in the form of an update by December this year.
In addition to the three primary camera sensors, Apple is also including a LIDAR sensor which can be used for autofocus in low light situations. This can work in both photos and videos according to Apple. This will also have a significant positive impact on Night Mode photos.
Features like Pro Video will push the envelope for iPhone videographers with the inclusion of 4K HDR video recording with Dolby Vision, a first for the iPhone lineup and also an exclusive to the two Pro models.
The iPhone 12 Pro and the 12 Pro Max will be available in colours like Pacific Blue, Gold, Graphite, and Silver. The iPhone 12 Pro will start from $999 (₹1,19,900) while the iPhone 11 Pro Max will start from $1,099 (₹1,29,900).
Apple said that the iPhone 12 Pro will be available for pre-order (in the U.S.) this Friday while the iPhone 12 Pro Max will go up on sale by mid-November. Apple is yet to inform in regards to India availability of these models.
