In a significant political development, Mushtaq Antulay, a former Congress legislator and the son-in-law of the ex-Maharashtra chief minister A R Antulay, has decided to align himself with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), under the leadership of Ajit Pawar. Antulay's decision, announced on Monday, underscores his commitment to contributing to the collective effort aimed at propelling Maharashtra's development agenda forward. His move is poised to introduce notable dynamics to the state's political landscape.

NCP Welcomes Antulay, Anticipates Party Strengthening

Sunil Tatkare, the NCP's state chief, extended a warm welcome to Antulay, emphasizing his extensive political experience and predicting that his inclusion would bolster the party's strength significantly. Tatkare underscored the growing support for the NCP, citing Antulay's affiliation as evidence of Ajit Pawar's steadfast dedication to the party's secular ethos, despite the prior divisions within the NCP. The announcement came during the NCP manifesto launch in Mumbai, where advocate Vilas Naik also declared his allegiance to the party, signaling a potential surge in its influence.

Positive Developments in MSCB Case, Relief for Ajit Pawar

Meanwhile, recent developments in the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank (MSCB) case have brought a sense of relief to Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and his associates. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai Police, following its investigation, concluded that no criminal wrongdoing could be discerned in transactions involving Ajit Pawar, his wife Sunetra Pawar, nephew Rohit Pawar, and others. The EOW further clarified that the bank had not suffered any financial losses, having recovered a substantial portion of the loans extended. The case, which centered on allegations of irregularities in loans disbursed by the MSC Bank to sugar factories, has now culminated with the issuance of a closure report by the EOW, indicating resolution to the longstanding controversy.

Parth gets Y+ security

recent security measures undertaken by the Maharashtra government have also captured public interest. Maharashtra Chief Minister Ajit Pawar's son, Parth Pawar, was granted Y+ security by the state government on Monday. This decision, reportedly made in response to perceived threats, comes amidst the contested battle for the Baramati Lok Sabha seat between two Pawar families. According to sources within the NCP, the decision to provide security to Parth Pawar is a precautionary measure undertaken by the state government. NCP spokesperson Umesh Patil clarified that security arrangements are based on threat assessments conducted by government officials, rather than solely influenced by ongoing political rivalries. Patil emphasized Parth's role as the son of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, highlighting potential security risks stemming from controversial policy decisions.
