A major accident has occurred during the work of the third phase of Samruddhi Highway. A girder machine collapsed during bridge work at Sarlambe in Shahapur taluka near Thane. As a result, 15 to 20 people have died. Four to five people are injured.

According to information received, the crane and the slab connecting the girder machine fell on the workers from a height of a hundred feet. CM announces an aid of INR 5 lakh
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has expressed grief over the unfortunate accident that occurred in the middle of the night when a crane collapsed on Samrudhi Highway in Shahapur Sarlambe. So far 17 people have died in this accident. He also announced an aid of five lakh rupees each to the families of the deceased workers and directed that the injured should be treated immediately at government expense.
Chief Minister Shinde who is in Pune spoke to the district administration and concerned officials and got information about the accident. This accident is very unfortunate and instructions have been given to conduct a thorough investigation. The Chief Minister spoke to Public Works (Public Enterprises) Minister Dadaji Bhuse and immediately dispatched him to the accident site. The team of NDRF has reached the place and they have given instructions for rescue work. He has also asked to take more precautions as it is rainy season. The accident took place when the third phase of Samruddhi Highway was underway.
