The final phase of Gokhale Bridge construction in Andheri has started. Due to this, the Gold Spot Junction-Gokhale Bridge route will remain completely closed from April 1 to May 15, 2025. Commuters are expected to face traffic congestion in the area.
To manage traffic, Mumbai Police has introduced alternative routes:
- Motorists travelling from Gold Spot Junction to Andheri West via Teli Gully Bridge must first cross the Gokhale Bridge.
- Vehicles moving east from Gokhale Bridge to Gold Spot Junction will be diverted through Teli Gully Slip Road.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is working to convert the bridge from a tar road to a concrete structure. This will increase the long-term durability of the bridge. At present, only one lane is open, causing vehicles to move in both directions on the same stretch. This has led to increased congestion.
The bridge is a key link between Andheri East and West. Currently, only one arm is in use. Full completion is expected by May 2025. Traffic is likely to resume fully in the second week of May.
Commuters are growing frustrated. Many have voiced concerns on social media. Andheri resident Suheil Merchant posted on platform X, warning fellow travellers about the upcoming delays. He called the situation a "curse" for residents.

Despite the inconvenience, work is progressing quickly. Authorities expect the bridge to be ready by early May, allowing smooth traffic movement soon after.
