A massive fire broke out on the second floor of HyperCity Mall, located in Kasarvadavali on Ghodbunder Road in Thane (West).

Owing to this, two shops were destroyed in the premises. However, no person was injured in the incident, Thane Municipal Corporation's disaster management cell chief Yasin Tadvi.

According to the Disaster Management Control Room, the blaze erupted around 7:56 am on Tuesday, January 28.

The incident was first reported by an individual, Mukesh Mishra, who alerted authorities through his mobile phone.

The Thane Disaster Management Unit promptly dispatched personnel to the scene, accompanied by one pickup vehicle, while the Fire Brigade deployed one rescue vehicle, one fire tender, and a high-rise fire vehicle to combat the blaze. With their efforts, the blaze was controlled after about an hour around 9 am.

A probe is on to ascertain the cause of the fire, the official said.

Recently, two fire incidents occurred over the weekend in Mumbai.

On January 26 evening, a fire that broke out in a 15-storey residential building in Mumbai's Kurla East area. It was put out after two hours. As soon as the fire started in the Shivaji Nagar SRA building near Swastik Park, all residents were evacuated in time and no one was injured, the official said.

The 'level one' fire (less intensity) broke out around 7 pm and was extinguished after about two hours. It was confined to the electrical duct from the ground floor to the 15th floor, the official said.

In another incident, a level 3 fire that broke out in a furniture market in a western suburb of Mumbai, which was put out after nearly 10 hours. However, no one was injured in the blaze that erupted around 11 am at the Khadakpada furniture market in Goregaon (East).

According to the fire official, it damaged wooden furniture, mattresses, film-making articles, plastic and thermocol spread over the ground floor and a part of the first floor of the market.

Twelve fire engines, water tankers and other equipment were used in the firefighting operation. The blaze was extinguished around 9 pm, the official said. The cause is yet to be known.
