Within the first two days of the special coronavirus vaccination scheme in colleges, the initiative is picking up momentum with an aggregate of 31,672 candidates being vaccinated across Maharashtra, reported the Times of India.
In order to ensure that the vaccination numbers ameliorate, the state government proclaimed a week-long specific attention vaccination drive for those students eligible on college campuses. Mission Yuva Swasth Abhiyaan, the drive, will be operational from October 25 to November 2.
Based on the account, on day 1, 12,772 students took the vaccine, on Tuesday, the numbers surged to nearly 30 per cent. 305 colleges set up inoculation camps and 18,900 jabs were administered on Tuesday.
According to the narrative, government statistics, colleges in Pune logged the largest vaccination on Tuesday, trailing by Panvel. An aggregate of 227 higher education establishments, as well as, 78 technical educational institutions are providing jabs on their college campuses.
In Mumbai, however, the numbers have been comparatively lower. Certain educational institutions are seeking preliminary statistics from pupils. During this, they realized that a prominent percentage of those on campus were already inoculated.
The narrative further elucidated that nearly 5,000 colleges in the higher and technical education department entail polytechnics, professional colleges, ITIs, as well as, other affiliated establishments. In this, there are almost 40 lakh pupils who are over the age of 18.
