The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has decided to name a stand at the Wankhede Stadium after Rohit Sharma. The decision was taken during the association's Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, April 15.
The stands will also be dedicated to former India captain Ajit Wadekar and former MCA president Sharad Pawar.
According to the official statement, Divecha Pavilion Level 3 will be the Rohit Sharma Stand. Meanwhile, Grand Stand Level 3 will now be known as the Sharad Pawar Stand, while Level 4 will be renamed as the Ajit Wadekar Stand.
"Another major resolution passed during the AGM was the approval of naming the stands at the Wankhede Stadium, the proposal was initially moved by Milind Narvekar and seconded by Jitendra Awhad," an MCA release said.
Paying a tribute, the MCA also announced that the match-day office at the MCA Pavilion will now be called the MCA Office Lounge, in memory of the association's former president, Amol Kale, who passed away while in office.
