500 Job Vacancies Available in State Psychiatric Hospitals

The state government has started psychiatric hospitals in Thane, Pune, Nagpur and Ratnagiri for the treatment of mentally ill patients. Despite the increase in the number of patients coming to these psychiatric hospitals, 500 posts in various categories in these hospitals have been lying vacant for the past several months. As these posts are vacant, the health services in the hospital are being affected, and the working staff are getting stressed.

People from all over the country who suffer from mental trauma or complete mental imbalance are brought to the state's government psychiatric hospitals for treatment. However, the right to information has revealed that there is a lack of manpower required to provide health services to these patients. Based on information received by information officer activist Chetan Kothari, 496 posts are vacant out of 2,196 sanctioned posts in four psychiatric hospitals in the state.

Out of 723 sanctioned posts in Thane Psychiatric Hospital, 142 posts are vacant. Whereas 191 out of 954 sanctioned posts in Pune Psychiatric Hospital, 115 out of 375 sanctioned posts in Nagpur Psychiatric Hospital and 48 out of 144 sanctioned posts in Ratnagitari Psychiatric Hospital are vacant. Most of the vacancies are in class IV.

In Thane Psychiatric Hospital, maximum 107 posts of category IV are vacant and maximum posts of male and female attendants are vacant. 136 male and female attendants are also vacant in Pune Psychiatric Hospital, 90 posts in Nagpur, and 19 male and female attendants are vacant in Ratnagiri Psychiatric Hospital. As these posts are vacant, class IV employees are facing many problems to provide health services to the patients here.
