Police received information about a young woman drowning at Marine Drive on Monday. Based on that information, Marine Drive Police and Fire Brigade reached the spot. They pulled the girl out of the sea and took her to the GT Hospital. Doctors there declared her dead. Police suspect that it was a case of suicide.
The woman left her bag on the pier before jumping into the sea. From the identity card, the police found the name of the woman to be Mamta Praveen Kadam (23). The young woman was living in Andheri and was working in a well-known IT company. She left the house in the morning saying that she was going to work. After that she directly reached the Marine Drive station.
Between 11 am and 12 pm, the police conducted a search operation to get the woman out. According to eyewitnesses, the woman came there and put the bag down. She then threw herself into the sea. Sources said that the mobile phone of the girl has been found by the police and from the WhatsApp chats in it, it is clear that she committed suicide due to personal reasons. The Marine Drive Police is conducting further investigation in this regard.
