Two days after the Cordelia cruise anchored in Mumbai, 1,820 passengers, as well as crew members that included 132 COVID-19 positive patients, were permitted to disembark on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, reports stated.

According to accounts, Shivdas Gurav, assistant municipal commissioner from A ward elaborated on how all positive patients except seven were asymptomatic and didn't have serious comorbidities. Thus, they were permitted home isolation. Seven of whom showed symptoms were taken to quarantine centres and hotels who were non-residents of Mumbai.

On Wednesday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had found 139 positive passengers after samples were collected from 1,827 passengers. Earlier on January 1, 66 passengers were positive from which six disembarked in Goa, the rest returned to board the ship to Mumbai.

Based on narratives, through Tuesday and Wednesday, nearly 40 positive passengers who had mild symptoms were taken to healthcare establishments or private hotels in the island city. However, one serious person was admitted to St George's Hospital. The 19 who were asymptomatic were permitted to island on the ship.

On Wednesday night, seven were taken to isolation centres while the remaining passengers disembarked. When the ship had docked in Mumbai on Tuesday, the civic authority undertook RT-PCR tests of 1,827 passengers

Accounts claim that from the 139 positive patients, 67 were non-residents of Mumbai that entailed areas such as Navi Mumbai, Thane and Kalyan. 63 were crew members while nine were residents of Mumbai. Gurav further added that those permitted to go home will have to undergo mandatory seven day home isolation and their hands have been stamped.

Gurav elucidated, based on accounts that once the reports came in late Wednesday night, passengers, as well as crew members were permitted to disembark in a phased manner. Adding that prior to that medical checks were undertaken to see if they had severe comorbidities.
