Meanwhile, after the increase in CNG and PNG prices by the Centre, the autorickshaw drivers have demanded a hike in the basic fare from INR 23 to INR 25. So, the running fare per km has also been demanded to be increased from INR 15.33 to INR 16.99.

He further stated that according to the information received from the leaders of the drivers' association, the auto drivers have to suffer a loss of INR 150 per day due to the increase in the price of CNG. While the auto drivers have made this demand here, the taxi drivers association has also taken up the demand of increasing the basic fare from INR 28 to INR 30.


Meanwhile, the decision in this regard will be taken only after detailed discussions. It has been said that after taking a decision by the Autorickshaw and Taxi Union, the proposal regarding the said decision will be sent to the Transport Department. On behalf of MMRTA, the rickshaw and taxi fares were hiked in 2022. Here there was an increase of INR 2 for autorickshaw and INR 3 for taxi fare. Now, after two years, it will be important to see exactly how much difference this growth is.
