The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started dignified funeral facilities keeping pets and stray animals like cats, dogs etc. in consideration. Mumbai has become the first city in the country to provide such a natural gas based combustion facility.
A pet cremation facility has been set up at Evershine Nagar in Malad (West) through a joint effort of the Veterinary Health Department and P North Division Office of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. This service will be provided free of charge, and will be available daily from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
The facility is the result of a collaborative effort between the Veterinary Health Department and P North Ward Office of BMC. This facility employs a PNG (piped natural gas) based cremation that is both environmentally friendly and scientifically advanced. This facility is operational from September 15, 2023.

Although this facility for animals is available in Malad, it can be used by animal lovers from all over Mumbai, including the western suburbs, for the cremation of their pets. There is a five-year maintenance and operation arrangement for the said combustion system.
