Mumbai’s civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), with the help of Google, mapped containment zones in slum pockets on Google maps in order for a person to get an idea of the active COVID-19 cases in the area he or she is visiting.

Moreover, according to the new rules shared by the BMC, all residential buildings will now have to screen help and other employees who have access to housing societies such as drivers, sweepers, domestic security personnel. While retaining the current rule of sealing an entire building only if there are cases on two or more floors, or if there are more than 10 cases, BMC will ensure no one exits or enters the building if it has been sealed.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra reported 13,395 fresh cases of the coronavirus on Thursday, taking the COVID-19 tally in the state to 14,93,884. However, in comparison to the last six months, September has witnessed the highest number of tests for COVID-19. Currently, 13,000-15,000 tests are being done in a day. This includes reliable RTPCR tests as well as fast-acting antigen tests. Moreover, due to the increase in the number of tests, a large number of patients are being registered as well. As of now, the report shared by the BMC shows Borivali as the most affected place whereas the Sandhurst Road is the least affected ward.
