On the background of cowardly Pahalgam terror attacks, the Maharashtra government has started special mental health care services for the families to recover from what can be called the most traumatic episode of their lives, as per the report by Free Press Journal. 

The emergency mental health care services have been started in the four major BMC-run hospitals, KEM, Nair, Sion and Cooper Hospital.

The services will be provided from 9 am to 4 pm which will include counselling, assessment of acute stress and screening for PTSD, medication, and hospitalisation if required. Along with this, emergency counseling and medication for stress, restlessness, insomnia and flashbacks of the incident will also be available during the night hours from 4 pm to 9 am at the mentioned hospitals.

 From 9 am to 4 pm, the suicide prevention helpline HITGUJ (022-24131212) will be operational, during which the trained counselors will assess mental health symptoms and refer patients to the hospital if required.
