Situated in the Thane district of the state of Maharashtra, Ambernath has reported only 12 cases of the coronavirus on Tuesday, August 4.

Currently, Ambernath has 343 active cases of the coronavirus. That is, only 343 patients are currently being treated in Ambernath. Of the 12 patients found on Tuesday, 8 have been home quarantined.

The percentage of people who have been cured in Ambernath is 85.60 per cent whereas the death rate happens to be 3.91 per cent. A total of 159 patients have succumbed to the disease in the area so far.

Meanwhile, a total of 9,546 people have tested for the coronavirus. Moreover, until August 31, strict lockdown is being observed in the containment zones of Ambernath, Kulgaon-Badlapur Municipal Council, Shahpur, and the Murbad Nagar Panchayat.

In light of the coronavirus cases, Thane has extended its lockdown till August 31. However, the restrictions will be applicable in areas marked as hotspots and containment zones while the rest of the city will operate as per the guidelines issued by the Maharashtra government under ‘Mission Begin Again’.

Earlier, the complete shutdown in Thane was lifted on July 19 as the restrictions remained limited to the containment zones. Now, the lockdown restrictions in containment zones and hotspot areas of Thane city have been extended for another month. However, the shops selling essential items like groceries and medicines will be allowed to remain open from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
