After the High Court's order to break the illegal slums settled around 10 meters of water supply carrying water to Mumbai, the N-division of BMC decided to demolish huts in Katoki Pada, Ambedkar Nagar, Panchsheel Nagar, Seva Nagar and Jai Malhar Nagar in Ghatkopar West.
The court ordered to demolish around 408 huts in Katodi Pada.
In the year 2007, the High Court had ordered the demolishment of the encroachment settled within 10 meters of the Tansa Pipe Line. Assistant Commissioner of the Department, Bhagyashree Kapse, said that the High Court had ordered the action on the slum within 10 meters of the current waterproof line. Along with this, the court has ordered the removal of illegal slums near the closed pipeline, after which the closed pipeline can be restarted.
