Newly appointed Ambassador of Estonia to India Marje Luup informed that he is keen to cooperate with India and especially Maharashtra in cyber security, e-governance, data security, information technology, solid waste management, metro management, etc areas. Estonia, which became independent from the former Soviet Union is a world leader in high-tech areas.
Ambassador of Estonia Mrs. Marje Luup, who is on her first visit to Mumbai after joining office, on Wednesday (June 12) paid a courtesy call on Governor Ramesh Bais at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai.
In terms of data security, Estonia has started its own 'Data Embassy' in Luxembourg and the ambassador said that Estonia can definitely help India and Maharashtra in the field of data security by saying that data is kept safe with the help of cloud technology. He said that he is also keen to cooperate with Jio and TCS companies in India.
Stating that Estonia has its own prestigious and old 'Tallinn University of Technology', which teaches e-governance, cyber security, applied engineering, shipbuilding and other high skills, the ambassador said that it would be helpful if the state of Maharashtra cooperated with this university.

She said that Estonia has a population of 1.4 million and even though citizenship is not given there, one can become e-resident. Saying this, she added that Mukesh Ambani is an e-resident of her country. One can start a business / company by being an e- resident of Estonia, she further added.
She said that 50 percent of the land of Estonia is covered by forest and a large part is barren but full of biodiversity. She appealed to the Indian tourists to visit Estonia, saying that the medieval towns and bungalows of our country will appeal to the tourists.
Stating that cultural cooperation helps to connect each other, the ambassador said that Estonia will send its choir group to India and also invite a cultural team from Maharashtra to Estonia.
From 1837 Sanskrit language was taught in Tartu University of Estonia. But eventually the Sanskrit language classes were discontinued. Governor Ramesh Bais said that Sanskrit University of Maharashtra will help to resume Sanskrit language classes by providing Sanskrit teachers to this university.
