Farhan Akhtar’s recent tweet appealing to the BMC regarding the dilapidated condition of some of the roads in Bandra, especially the junction outside Mehboob Studio. Due to the eye opening tweet from the actor, the civic body had decided to reconstruct the Mehboob Studio junction and make it free of potholes.

As per a report in Mumbai Mirror, on Tuesday, BMC asked a neighbouring road contractor to repair Mehboob Studio junction. The key junction will be repaired by using the money saved in the resurfacing of neighbouring roads and footpaths. While quoting to the tabloid senior civic official said, "There is a lot of saving in the neighbouring contract for constructing new side strips, footpaths and rains on roads like Hill Road as per the BMC's new guidelines which require only resurfacing of side strips and they are not required to be built in full crust. So that saving will be used to repair Mehboob Studio junction."

"This way a lot of time will be saved since we will not have to wait to float new tenders and appoint a new contractor. The entire junction will be smooth and pothole-free in around two months," the official added.

In the month of May, Farhaan had tweeted, "I suspect the contractor that paved St Andrews Road in Bandra has used a seesaw instead of a leveller."

Then after, BMC had inquired in September and found that not only the contractor was sloppy, but also he didn’t even have enough manpower and equipment required to fulfil the contract. After receiving the complaints, Assistant Municipal Commissioner Sharad Ughade (H West Ward) had visited the site and stated, "The contractor had indeed done a very poor job. From the work, it was apparent that he did not have any skill in road repair work. We imposed a penalty of ₹50,000 on him then but there was no improvement so we proposed to blacklist him.”

According to reports, Mandeep Enterprises had been assigned for the maintenance of 24 roads in Bandra, Khar and Santacruz. They are designated to resurface the roads in asphalt.

Officials informed that the work on the junction will begin in a fortnight and is expected to be wrapped up by the end of November.
