The employees of JJ Hospital will go on an indefinite strike from July 3 for various demands such as immediate filling of vacancies by direct service, retention of transfer employees in service, strict action against those who beat employees, implementation of old pension scheme for transfer workers. The employees association said that the government and the hospital administration will be responsible for the patient care affected by this indefinite strike.


The number of patients coming to JJ Hospital is increasing day by day. But there is a shortage of manpower for patient care and maintenance. Even in that the employees are retiring according to the prescribed age. Currently, the JJ hospital has 1352 sanctioned beds. But since the last 10 years, vacancies are not filled, it is affecting the patient care. Due to the increasing number of patients in the hospital and non-recruitment of staff vacancies, the working staff are facing unbearable stress while providing patient care. Employees cannot even take their own vacations, all this is affecting the mental and physical health of the employees.

Despite giving repeated representations in this regard through the staff union, the administration is implementing a policy of taking time for recruitment. Keeping in mind its seriousness, the administration is implementing a time-consuming policy regarding direct recruitment of workers from vacant posts. Therefore, hospital employees have warned that the 'work bandh non-cooperation movement will be held from July 3, 2024. Satyawan Sawant, general secretary of the organisation said that there is a possibility that the patient services will be affected due to this indefinite strike, and the hospital administration will be responsible for this.
