Maharashtra Govt. allows to reopen watersports, amusement parks and indoor activities

On Wednesday, December 23, the Maharashtra government allowed watersports, nauka vihar, amusement parks and indoor entertainment activities to resume in the state. Moreover, the Uddhav Thackeray-led government also permitted reopening of tourist places outside containment zones.

A government circular dated December 21 stated that all social distancing norms and COVID-19 precautions have to be followed while performing these activities to avoid the spread of the infection.

The guidelines further said that water sports and other activities such as boating will be allowed outside containment zones only. However, the standard operating procedures for these activities will be issued by the department concerned.

On December 21, the state government imposed a night curfew in all municipal corporation areas of the state from 11 pm to 6 am till January 5, 2021. This came amid reports of a new strain of coronavirus found in the United Kingdom. Besides, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has released an order reiterating the travel guidelines and mandatory quarantining protocol for all passengers arriving from the Europe and Middle East nations.

In fact, for the first time during Christmas and New Year's eve, the mass will be celebrated before 10 pm by all the Churches. The state home department has released guidelines to celebrate Christmas in a simple and urged the citizens to follow the COVID-19 rules.
