Campaign against electricity thieves is going on a daily basis in Titwala sub-division of Mahavitaran. In the month of June, under Manda, Gaveli, Kon and Khadavali branch offices of Titwala sub-division, 147 electricity consumers were raided and electricity theft of INR 59.24 lakh was revealed. After the action, a case has been registered in Murbad Police Station against 60 people who evaded electricity payment under Section 135 of Electricity Act 2003.
Under the leadership of Deputy Executive Engineer Ganesh Pawar, a power theft detection drive is going on regularly in Titwala sub-division. In this campaign, 50 people under Manda-Titwala branch office did electricity theft worth INR 18 lakh 53 thousand 510, 43 people did electricity theft worth INR 28 lakh 78 thousand 160 from Kongaon branch area, 28 people did electricity theft worth INR 9 lakh 51 thousand 530 under the Goveli branch office, and 26 people did electricity theft worth INR 2 lakh 40 thousand 880 from the Khadavli branch area.

A notice was issued to all of them regarding payment of electricity theft. But according to the complaint filed against 60 people who avoided paying the said amount within the prescribed period, cases of electricity theft have been registered in Murbad police station. Electricity theft is a serious social crime and there is a provision of strict punishment and punitive action in this crime. Therefore, Mahavitaran has appealed not to use any trick to steal electricity.
