A major fire broke out in a logistics godown in a village near Thane district's Bhiwandi city in the wee hours of Wednesday, March 24. The mishap took place in Amane village, around 20 KM away from Bhiwandi.

According to sources, the blaze started around 4:30 am and even after five hours, firefighters haven’t been able to douse the flames. Two fire engines and a jumbo water tanker were rushed to the spot.

Santosh Kadam, head of Region Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), said that the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. He also said that the incident will be thoroughly investigated.

However, no injuries or casualties have been reported until now.

Meanwhile, it has also come to light that this was the second fire incident in Bhiwandi within 24 hours.

Earlier, on Tuesday afternoon, March 53, a fire was reported in a textile factory in the city. The incident took place around 3:45 pm near Anmol hotel in Fatima Nagar. No casualties were reported and the fire was soon brought under control.
