Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) Additional Commissioner Prashant Rode has directed that the applications for Mandap permission received through online or offline mode for Dahi Handi festival and Ganeshotsav should be approved by the Assistant Commissioner without delay. 51 applications for Dahi Handi mandap and 157 applications for Ganeshotsav mandap have been received and their approval process has started.


The applications for permission received from the boards should be routed immediately to the ward committee level after taking necessary permission and no objection certificate from the Public Works Department, Police, Traffic Police, Fire Brigade. Additional Commissioner Rode said that Assistant Commissioner and Circle Commissioner should review on a daily basis whether there is any delay in the amount of permission given.


A review of various topics was also held on this occasion as per the discussion held with the representatives of Ganeshotsav Mandals at the Municipal Headquarters. In this, the construction department has to ensure that all major and internal roads remain free of potholes. Also, Additional Commissioner Rode explained that it is the responsibility of the Parks Department to complete the pruning of tree branches on the arrival and immersion path of Ganesha idol in time.

Information about Visarjan Ghat and its surroundings was also given in this meeting. Boards should also take all necessary permissions in time. Among them, pavilion permission should be applied in the front part of the mandals. Also, care should be taken that there is no obstruction to traffic. On this occasion, Additional Commissioner Prashant Rode has appealed that the Municipal Corporation is trying hard to celebrate an environment-friendly Ganeshotsav and the Boards should actively support it.


An appeal to participate in the competition of Municipal Corporation

Every year the Municipal Corporation organises Aras competition for public Ganeshotsav Mandals in the Thane Municipal area. A total of eight prizes are awarded. INR 10 thousand for first place, INR 7,500 for second place and 6500 for third place. For participation in the competition, the boards can submit applications in the office of Information and Public Relations Department till 02 September. Additional Commissioner Rode has also called for a large number of participants in this competition.
