The Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) has introduced a new "one-click" attendance system for its employees and contract workers. This system uses facial recognition technology to increase punctuality and monitor work hours. The goal is to promote better work culture and address the issue of late and early arrivals.

The older finger-scan attendance system has been replaced with the more advanced face-recognition technology. The new system is designed to prevent employees from bypassing the attendance process, unlike the previous system, which could be easily avoided.

In addition to the attendance system, the municipal commissioner has directed the general administrative department to make sure that retired employees receive their post-service benefits promptly. As per reports, two retired employees, a driver and a peon, received their benefits on the day of their retirement this month.

Approximately 5,000 contract workers and 1,500 staff members are employed across various civic departments.

- Class IV employees have set working hours from 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM.

- Employees in Class I through Class III have working hours from 9:45 AM to 6:15 PM.

- Employees who are late three times in a month lose one day of casual leave.

- Early departures will also result in a deduction of half a day’s pay, which is taken from their earned leave if casual leave is unavailable.

The new system will track unused leaves and attendance data, which will be used for accurate salary calculations. The system would benefit staff by making timely and precise salary payments. It would also help maintain discipline, punctuality, and efficiency within the organisation.
