Kaushal Shah, the founder of Evor Beauty in Mumbai, had implemented a new rule to boost employee productivity. The rule required all employees to arrive at work by 9:30 am. Latecomers would face a fine of INR 200. This new policy was shared by Shah on the social media platform X.
Now, Shah himself has fallen victim to his own rule. In less than two weeks, he has paid INR 1,000 for arriving late to work. Shah posted on X about the policy and his own experience with the fines. He stated that the policy was intended to increase office productivity by requiring employees to arrive earlier than the previous 10-11 am start times.

To increase the productivity in office,
I made a strict rule for everyone to be in the office by 9:30 am (earlier we used to come by 10-11)
and if we‘re late, we pay Rs.200 as penalty.
This is me paying it for the 5th time🫠 pic.twitter.com/4qYi6kTP17
The fines collected are to be used for activities and benefits for the team, like dining and other events. Shah shared a screenshot of one of his INR 200 transactions, expressing regret that it was his fifth time paying the penalty.
The post garnered hundreds of reactions on X. Many users found the situation amusing and praised Shah for following the rules. Some questioned who would receive the fine money. Comments included jokes about paying himself and remarks about the payments going to his personal account.
In a follow-up post, Shah clarified that he had made a different UPI Lite account to receive the fines. Shah explained that the purpose of sharing the policy on social media was to hold CEOs and founders accountable. He also talked about the importance of leaders following the same rules they set for their staff.
It seems my intention behind this post was misunderstood.
