Bharatiya Stree Shakti has opened three premarital counselling centres in Mumbai in partnership with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The National Commission for Women is leading the plan. The centers were inaugurated on International Women’s Day on March 8, reports stated.

The centres are named "Tere Mere Sapne," and will guide couples before marriage. It will help them understand relationships better. Officials say the rising number of divorces and family disputes is a concern. Premarital counselling can help with these issues.

The centers, known as 'Pre-Marriage Family Dialogue Centers' (Pre-Marriage Family Samvad Kendra), will be located in Parel, Vile Parle, and Borivali. Besides, there will be centres in Nashik, Latur in Maharashtra. Each centre will be staffed by trained counsellors.

They will offer advice and support to couples planning to get married. The centres will help them understand potential challenges and teach about healthy communication.

In a report by Midday, Culture Minister Ashish Shelar highlighted the importance of these centres. He credited Vijaya Rahatkar, chairperson of the National Commission for Women, for leading this initiative.

Bharatiya Stree Shakti is an NGO, which has conducted family counselling and premarital guidance programs across the country, since 1988.
