The Mumbai Metro's Aqua Line was thrown open for the public on Monday, October 7. However, commuters have raised concerns with the ticketing system. Many passengers found it inconvenient to use different mobile apps to book tickets for each of the three metro routes in the city.

1. For the new Metro 3 corridor, tickets can only be purchased through a dedicated mobile app, MetroConnect3.

2. The Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar Metro 1 uses a closed-loop card integrated with the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) and web-based apps like Paytm and WhatsApp.

3. Tickets for Metro 2A and Metro 7 can be bought through a different app called Metro 1.

MetroConnect3 app was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, October 5, after the inauguration of Mumbai's first ever underground metro. Users need to select the date and travel type from a drop-down menu. They must also choose their boarding and destination stations. The app also allows users to select the source station using phone location.

Other features include fare calculation, a trip-saving option, and a lost and found section. The app also lists nearby tourist destinations. The app is available in Marathi, Hindi, and English. It provides detailed information about station facilities, accessibility, and nearby services.

As per sources, authorities are working on integrating the MetroConnect3 app with the NCMC. This would allow passengers to use one card across different metro lines. However, this integration is expected to take at least a month.

The National Common Mobility Card was launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to simplify payments across public transport options. In December, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and the State Bank of India introduced the NCMC for the city's metro network. Currently, Metro 1 (blue line), Metro 7 (red line), and Metro 2A (yellow line) accept the NCMC.

According to reports, Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) may soon manage all metro lines in the city. It is expected that Metro 3 will also come under its operation in the near future.
