The City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Ltd. (CIDCO) announced on Monday, December 16, that the Navi Mumbai Metro has been awarded three prestigious ISO certifications. These include ISO 9001:2015 for quality management, ISO 14001:2015 for environmental management, and ISO 45001:2018 for occupational health & safety.
The Navi Mumbai Metro is the first metro line in Maharashtra to achieve all three certifications within its first year of operation.

- The ISO 9001:2015 certification reflects the metro’s focus on providing high-quality services and ensuring customer satisfaction. It also highlights efforts to improve operational efficiency.
- The ISO 14001:2015 accreditation recognises CIDCO’s sustainable practices aimed at reducing environmental impact and improving resource efficiency.
- The ISO 45001:2018 ensures a safe working environment by enforcing strict health and safety regulations for employees and workers involved in the metro’s operations.
Shantanu Goel, Joint Managing Director of CIDCO, accepted the certifications from the British Standards Institution (BSI) through Maha Metro Rail Corporation. The metro is managed by Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro).
CIDCO stated that these certifications highlight their commitment to excellence, sustainability, and safety in metro operations.
As per a report by FPJ, Vijay Singhal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of CIDCO, emphasised the importance of this achievement. In the same report, he stated that CIDCO and Maha Metro have implemented rigorous systems to ensure quality, safety, and sustainability in metro operations. These efforts have set a benchmark for excellence in infrastructure and urban development.
Phase 1 of the Navi Mumbai Metro project began service on November 17 of last year. The corridor links the housing complexes of CIDCO in Kharghar, Taloja MIDC, and Belapur CBD. The recognition highlighted the Navi Mumbai Metro’s dedication to delivering safe, efficient, and eco-friendly metro services.
