Banners / hoardings placed anywhere without permission in the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation area are disfiguring the city and regular action is being taken through the department offices of the Municipal Corporation to prevent it.
However, as it was noticed that a large number of banners were put up in the city in the last two days, on the instructions of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, 211 unauthorised banners were removed in one day on August 6 by undertaking a raid campaign through the encroachment department.
In this, 29 in Belapur Division, 40 in Nerul Division, 10 in Vashi Division, 28 in Turbhe Division, 18 in Koparkhairane Division, 42 in Ghansoli Division, 27 in Airoli Division, 17 in Digha Division thus a total of 211 illegal banners were removed.

In order to maintain the beauty of the city, a total of 126 places have been fixed for putting up banners in various sections of the city. Permission to display banners in proper size at those places is given by depositing the prescribed fee in the concerned department office. It is mandatory to display the sticker of that permission on the posted banner.
However, if any banner is put up without permission, action will be taken against that person / organisation as per rules.
While appealing to the citizens of Navi Mumbai to take care not to deface Navi Mumbai, which has the reputation of being a clean and beautiful city, there is provision for penal action and legal punishment under Section 3 of the Maharashtra Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 1995 for putting up unauthorised banners / hoardings.
