Navi Mumbai: Atal Setu To Remain Close For MMRDA Marathon On February 16; Alternate Routes Announced

The Navi Mumbai Traffic Police has announced traffic restrictions on Atal Setu (Mumbai Trans Harbor Link) due to the marathon organised by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) on Sunday, February 16. This marathon will run from 4 am to 12 pm on Mumbai (Severy) to Chirle (Navi Mumbai) route.


In order to facilitate the event and avoid congestion, vehicular traffic will be restricted on Atal Setu from 11 pm on February 15 to 1 pm on February 16.


The order issued by Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) and Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Navi Mumbai, Vitthal Kubde, comes under Sections 115 and 116 (1) (a) (b) of the Motor Vehicles Act, vide Maharashtra Government notification dated September 27, 1996.

As per the restrictions, all vehicles except those required for the marathon will be banned from Atal Setu. Passengers traveling between Mumbai, Pune, Uran and JNPT will be affected.

Officials have advised motorists to use alternate routes. For those coming from Uran, via Gavan Phata, Uran Phata and Vashi and for Pune-Mumbai traffic Yashwantrao Chavan Expressway via Belapur and Vashi. Vehicles coming from Konkan and Panvel will also be diverted via Uran Phata and Vashi, a notification issued by the transport department said.


Police vehicles, fire brigades, ambulances and other emergency services as well as vehicles directly involved in the marathon will be exempted. The traffic police has appealed to the passengers to plan their journey accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
