Railway Police take action against 835 hawkers

The Railway Police Force (RPF) has initiated an operation against hawkers selling their products in running trains and on railway platforms

Central Railway local trains are used by lakhs of passengers on a daily basis and the trains are crowded during peak hours. While the passengers struggle to get in the crowded trains, the hawkers selling their products in the running trains results in inconvenience for everyone. In order to avoid this, Central Railway had launched an initiative to take action against the hawkers.

Earlier, Railways had fined the hawkers but that was of no avail as the hawkers continued the practice of entering in crowded trains. Due to which, the Central Railway's Railway Police Force (RPF) had started an operation against the defaulters.

Under which, RPF has taken severe action against 835 hawkers within a week, i.e. December 3-December 10. Meanwhile, looking at the success of the operation, Central Railway has announced that they will continue to conduct such operations against the hawkers.

Previously, the infamous Elphinstone Road station stampede had taken place due to a rumour spread by a hawker. After which, Western Railway had started taking strict action against the hawkers near railway stations.
