The Panvel Regional Transport Office (RTO) office is located in the Iron and Steel Market building in Kalamboli. The office will be shifted to eight blocks of Valley Crafts Society in Sector 36, Kharghar in a few days. The state home department announced the administrative and financial approval orders in this regard on Thursday. There are indications that the Panvel RTO office will actually be shifted to Kharghar in April.
The RTO office has been operating in the shared building of the Iron and Steel Market Committee in Kalamboli for the last 14 years. However, the shared building of the Iron and Steel Market Committee was declared dangerous by the Panvel Municipal Corporation. Since the work was being carried out from a dangerous building, many government offices in this building were shifted for the safety of the employees. Senior officials of the Panvel RTO office had demanded space from the Panvel Tehsildar, Panvel Municipal Corporation and CIDCO Board.
Responding to the demand of the RTO, the CIDCO board decided to provide space on lease in a building in the Valley Shilp Co-Housing Society in Sector 36, Kharghar suburb.
The RTO will take possession of these units after the RTO office hands over a check for the rental amount to the CIDCO board from Monday to Tuesday next week and then signs a rental agreement with CIDCO. Therefore, it is expected that the relocation of the RTO office will begin in the second week of April.
When will the office be?
The CIDCO board has given a plot of land measuring three and a half acres at Taloja Majumdar for the Panvel RTO office. The RTO office has also deposited the development fee with the CIDCO board in the month of December in exchange for this land. However, instead of a developed plot, the land is actually hilly and a large part of it has taken the form of a lake. Therefore, the RTO has requested CIDCO to properly develop the plot. Once CIDCO provides the developed plot, the work of constructing the Panvel RTO office on the rightful land will accelerate.
