In a piece of developing news, the Shiv Sena is to organize a state-wide protest on Friday, February 5, over the soaring petrol and diesel prices.

Moreover, the party leaders have informed that bullock-cart and bicycle marches will be taken to the offices of district collectors across the state. Moreover, legislators and key functionaries of the ruling party have warned of intensifying the protests if the Centre does not take adequate steps to reduce the prices.

Meanwhile, former Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Devendra Fadnavis stated the state government should reduce its share of taxes on fuel to bring the prices down. Currently, the highest price of petrol in Maharashtra is at Parbhani at INR 96 per litre.

On the other hand, earlier on January 27, the price of petrol went up by 24 paise in Mumbai, 24 paise in Kolkata, 22 paise in Chennai and 25 paise in Delhi. According to Indian Oil's website, petrol prices in Delhi have crossed INR 86, while in Mumbai, they are close to INR 93. The prices across the nation are breaking their own record every day.

According to reports, there has been a steady increase in the prices of petrol and diesel since January 6 this year. There is a lot of activity all over the world regarding the coronavirus due to which there is a spurt in crude oil prices. This is affecting the prices of domestic petrol and diesel. Moreover, in the coming days, there is little hope of getting relief.
