Former Cabinet Minister Arun Jaitley was one of the reputed leaders in India and has contributed to the development of the country. Paying a tribute to him, the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) recently decided to rename the popular Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium as Arun Jaitley Stadium
Official renaming ceremony of the stadium will be held on September 12, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, in the presence of Home Minister Amit Shah and Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju. Further, as per announcements made earlier, this event will also notice a stand at the Feroz Kotla Stadium named after Virat Kohli. With this event, this ground will be the first and only stadium till date to be renamed by the association.
Sharing the news, the President of DDCA, Rajat Sharma, told PTI, "It was Arun Jaitley's support and encouragement that players like Virat Kohli, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Ashish Nehra, Rishabh Pant and many others could make India proud."
Jaitley, who passed away recently, was the man behind several initiatives at the stadium and played a key role during his tenure at DDCA. He was responsible for offering world-class amenities and modern facilities in the stadium and also increased the capacity to accommodate more fans.
