What action has been taken against the concerned police officers of Badlapur Police Station who failed to investigate and register the case of sexual abuse of two girls in Badlapur? The High Court asked the state government on Wednesday. Also, ordered to submit the report in this regard within six weeks.
According to the departmental inquiry, the allegation of dereliction of duty against an officer has been proved. Also, a bench of Justice Revathi Mohite-Dere and Justice Prithviraj Chavan passed the above order after being informed by Advocate General Birendra Saraf that the report has been sent to the Commissioner of Police for further action. Similarly, the court directed the government that if the committee constituted to make recommendations on the issue of safety of school students submits its report till the next hearing, it should also be submitted to the court.
Earlier, the Advocate General also informed the court that all measures are being taken for the welfare of both the minor girls in the case. Also, it was informed that the compensation amount has also been distributed under the state government's morale scheme.
Meanwhile, accused Akshay Shinde had sexually assaulted two girls studying in Kindergarten in a school in Badlapur. Shinde had joined the school as a cleaner on contract basis from October 1. There was a public outcry in Badlapur because the police did not take any action despite the fact that he had sexually assaulted two girls. Subsequently, the state government had constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case. Shinde was also arrested. However, he died in a police encounter. His family has also petitioned the High Court seeking an inquiry into his alleged encounter. On the other hand, two school trustees were also arrested by the police after the High Court rejected anticipatory bail.
