Torres Fraud Case: Blue Corner Notice issued against nine foreign accused

The Economic Offenses Wing has issued a Blue Corner Notice against nine foreign accused in the Torres fraud case. These include eight Ukrainian and one Turkish citizen. The main accused in this case is suspected of sending INR 200 crore abroad. 


Police are yet to trace one of the main accused in the Torres financial fraud case, Tausif Riaz alias John Carter, who has fled.


Notice has also been sent to Interpol
The police are searching for the accused and the Mumbai Economic Offences Wing has appealed to anyone who finds them to contact them. This notice is issued to obtain information about a person important in the investigation of a crime, to identify and locate them. After Interpol issues such a notice, the police and investigation agencies of all countries are informed about it. 


Therefore, these systems help in locating a person or getting information about his activities. For this, a Blue Corner Notice is issued with the help of Interpol. Earlier, a lookout circular was issued against the accused in this case.

Torres implemented several investment schemes. It promised to pay six percent interest every week. Thousands of investors from Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Mira Road gathered outside Torres' offices in Dadar, Mira Road and APMC Navi Mumbai on January 6 and protested against the interest not paid since the last week of December. A complaint was lodged at the Shivaji police station the same day. 


It is being claimed that this amount is in thousands of crores. Apart from this, a case has also been registered in this regard at Navghar Police Station of Mira Bhayander, Rabodi Police Station of Thane and APMC Police Station of Navi Mumbai. The ED will investigate all these cases together.
