On Sunday, February 23, a speeding motor car ran over a one and a half year old baby who was sleeping in his mother's lap on the footpath. The baby died in this accident and the mother is undergoing treatment. Rafi Ahmed Kidwai (RAK) Marg Police has registered a case against motor vehicle driver Kamal Vijay Riya (46) and has started investigation in this matter.
While Vardan Londhe died in the accident, his mother Priya Londhe (29) was injured and is undergoing treatment. She lives with her husband and two children in the Garodi Samaj slum of Wadala village. Police have registered a case based on their complaint.
On Saturday night around 11:30, she took her little son Vardan and fell asleep on the footpath in front of the house. After that, due to the loud noise, the residents of the area came running. At that time Priya Londhe tried to get up but she could not get up. After some time, she realised that the car ran over her, killing the baby who was sleeping in her lap and burst into tears.
After receiving information about the incident, the police team from RAK Marg Police Station rushed to the spot. The child was later declared dead at around 1 am. The woman has been admitted to KEM Hospital for further treatment. There, an X-ray test revealed that the woman's shoulder bone was broken. In this case, the police have registered a case against the woman driver for causing the death of the baby by driving the vehicle at high speed. Police are investigating further in this matter.
