The Dindoshi Sessions Court has ordered a mental evaluation of RPF constable Chetan Singh Chaudhary, accused of killing three passengers and a superior officer on the Jaipur-Mumbai Express. He will be sent to Thane's psychiatric hospital for assessment and treatment.

Currently held in Akola Central Jail, Chetan reportedly showed signs of mental illness, prompting the jail superintendent to request his transfer to a mental hospital. Doctors at Akola District Hospital confirmed symptoms of mental illness, recommending treatment at Nagpur's Regional Mental Hospital.

However, families of the victims contested the claim, stating Chetan's chargesheet and medical reports showed no evidence of mental illness. The public prosecutor supported the transfer to Thane, citing logistical challenges in presenting Chetan for hearings from Akola, including network issues for teleconferencing.

Considering the evidence and convenience, Judge N. L. More ruled for Chetan's transfer to Thane psychiatric hospital, where he will remain during the trial.
