A female medical student was molested by an associate professor at Nair Hospital. The investigation conducted after the student’s complaint to the main internal complaint committee against sexual harassment against women were convinced of the crime. Therefore, the Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee has recommended action against the associate professor along with one other doctor and the superintendent of the hospital.
She is studying in the second year of a medical course at Nair Hospital. According to the complaint lodged with the Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee, the victim student went to meet an associate professor in the Department of Pharmacology in March. At that time, he called her to his room. He then invited her to his cabin again on Saturday afternoon. The victim student has said in the complaint that the concerned professor molested her on the pretext of examination.
She informed her friends about this obscene act of the professor. Also complained to the Chief Internal Grievance Committee. After the investigation conducted by this committee, as the statement of the student was found to be true, action was taken against the concerned professor and it was recommended to transfer him. The committee also recommended to counsel Dr. Sachin Satpute, who testified in this case, to warn him and to warn the superintendent of the hospital.
