On late Sunday, a 51-year-old man was nabbed by the MIDC police for molesting a minor child on multiple occasions, stated a report by the Times of India.
It is claimed that the victim and accused were next-door neighbours and in order to protect the victim’s identity, the identification of the accused has been kept a secret.
According to the police authorities, the accused has a job as a security guard, and in addition to being married, he has children. He resides with his family on the first floor of a building in Andheri East. Similarly, the victim, along with her family lives next door to the accused. It is said that the victim is seven years old.
A police officer elaborated that both the families shared a common balcony. The girl’s mother, on Sunday, saw the accused red-handed molesting her daughter. Promptly, she caught him and apprised her husband about the occurrence.
On Monday, the accused was brought into the MIDC police station, where under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, a case was registered against him.
Later, the victim has taken for a medical examination. She also informed her parents that the accused had been molesting her on over two incidents in the last month and a half.
