A man killed a woman for rejecting his marriage proposal. The police have booked the accused under sections 103, 333, and 118(1) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita and have started searching for him who is at large. The incident took place in Bhiwandi.

24-year-old Raju Singh who was a neighbour of 23-year-old Nitu Singh asked to marry him. However, when the girl denied, he stabbed her. Her sister sustained injuries in bid to save her. The Shanti Nagar has launched a search for him.

Nitu Singh lived with her parents and two siblings in Shatrughna Tare chawl in Bhadwad while Raju Singh, a native of Uttar Pradesh, worked in a private firm, as per the police. Raju had proposed to Nitu on several occasions after landing a job, however the latter rejected his proposal every time.

On Monday night, Raju Singh approached her again and proposed to marry her when she was at home. When she refused, he started stabbing her. On hearing the commotion, Nitu’s younger sister rushed in from the kitchen and tried to intervene but she failed to stop the stabbing and in return sustained injuries.

The father of the deceased subsequently filed a complaint at the Shanti Nagar police station. Meanwhile, the police are searching for the accused.
