Mumbai: Police arrest Dawood's accomplice after 29 years

N M Joshi Marg Police has succeeded in arresting the notorious Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Shakeel gangsters after 29 years.The accused was absconding in the case of attempted murder in 1996. Sources informed that the accused was currently staying in Karnataka after changing his identity. 


Dawood Ibrahim gang gangster and Chhota Rajan gang gangster were in judicial custody in Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai in 1996. The goons of both the gangs had tried to kill each other by thrashing each other in the jail. In that case, a case of attempted murder under sections 143, 147, 148, 149, 324, 307 of the IPC was registered against the notorious gangster Dawood Ibrahim, Chhota Shakeel gangsters at the N M Joshi Marg police station. The arrested accused Prakash Ratilal Hingu (63) was living in Juhu Lane area of Andheri at that time. After getting bail in this case, the accused started absenting himself for court proceedings. After that, the court declared the accused absconding.

The police got information that the absconding accused resides in Hubli, Karnataka. Accordingly, Assistant Police Inspector Somnath Deshmane and the team left for Hubli. There they searched for the absconding accused. Police arrested the accused as soon as he was identified. The police re-arrested the accused in this case.
