A shocking incident of ragging involving a first-year MBBS student has emerged at Grant Government Medical College and JJ Hospital. Following a complaint from the affected student, the college's anti-ragging committee promptly launched an investigation and took action against the accused students.

The academic year for the 2024-25 medical course began on October 14, with MBBS classes starting regularly at the college. However, on the morning of October 17, two second-year MBBS students were seen questioning a first-year student’s name and forcing him to dance on the college premises.

A member of the anti-ragging committee, who happened to be passing by, witnessed the incident and raised the matter during a committee meeting. Taking the complaint seriously, the committee conducted an inquiry in accordance with the guidelines of the National Commission of Medical Sciences and Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. Based on their findings, it was recommended that both second-year students be suspended for one year.
