In a shocking revelation, more than 60 establishments in the city including renowned hospitals and a college in Mumbai along with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters have received bomb threat on Tuesday morning, June 19.
The threat emails have been sent using a VPN Network. The identity of the sender and the motive of the threat are yet to be ascertained, said Mumbai Police.
This development came hours after over 40 airports in the nation went on a tizzy following bomb threats in the last 24 hours, which turned out to be a hoax.
BMC HQ:
The unknown person threatened to blow up the headquarters. The police investigated the BMC headquarters but did not find anything suspicious.
Hinduja College:
A similar threat mail was also received by Hinduja College of Commerce located in Girgaon area of the city.
A team of police and a bomb squad searched the premises following the threat mail, but nothing suspicious was found. Mumbai's VP Road Police Station is looking into the matter, the report added.
Hospital Scare:
As per ANI report, the sender claimed bombs were planted in the bathrooms and under the beds of nearly 50 hospitals. These hospitals include Jaslok Hospital, JJ Hospital, KEM Hospital, Kohinoor Hospital, Raheja Hospital, Seven Hill Hospital, St. George Hospital among others.
Upon receiving the information, a police team and bomb squad searched the hospitals, but nothing suspicious was found.
The emails were sent through a website named Beeble.com. Each email was individually crafted and sent.
It is pertinent to note that the Mumbai police conducted security checks of those establishments and later it came to light that somebody played a mischief as nothing suspicious was found at all these places, the police official said.
He further said that the process to register a case against unidentified persons is underway at the Azad Maidan police station.
